Maria Bodil were the first photographers to enter the Bisou collection, and remain among the most distinct voices we represent. Their work sits at the intersection of photography, abstraction, and digital media, creating images that feel at once intimate and alienated. Surreal, richly coloured and ambiguous about where reality ends and imagination begins.

The collection began with Mazarine (2022), a trio of portraits marked by rich colour and soft, enveloping light, dreamlike and anonymous, inviting without revealing too much.

Homage (2025) took a different direction. Through a series of six stylized portraits, Maria Bodil reimagined the visual languages of iconic artists in a contemporary context, each model embodying the spirit of one artist through bold makeup, sculptural hair, and cohesive set design. A love letter to art history, rendered in their own unmistakable terms.

With Body (2026), the work shifted again. Using photographs of their own bodies as raw material, fed through an AI model and brought back through analog processes, the series explores identity, duality, and what remains of the self after it passes through a machine. The results are fragmented, luminous, and impossible to fully claim.
